Library: Grades K-6

 

Our schedule for special classes allows your child the opportunity to spend time in the library every 6 school days. The students spend the class time looking for books, reading silently and taking Accelerated Reading quizzes. I do read aloud to the students in grades K-3.

First graders will soon begin using the school's Accelerated Reading program. Please read about the program under About the Library on this website.

Second graders are able to choose books from the entire library. Time in each library class will be spent learning how to find books on the catalog and locate the book on the shelf. 

Fourth graders now have the option to play Shamrock Bingo during library. Each student was given a bingo sheet and can earn a piece of candy by reading and taking a quiz on 5 different books. The subject of the squares are for example: sports fiction, holiday, 001-200 non-fiction, biography. 

In grades 5 and 6 I encourage students to play Shamrock Bingo which encourages students to use the catalog to find and read books of different genres.
